Somedays I can’t help but goof off…my brain will not alow me to do anything else.
It is like it can’t focus or function for some reason. I feel like I need to ‘Let off some steam” as the saying goes. I am fidgety, I can not concentrate and I am even a wee bit cranky.
I think this is the same things that happens to kids when we feel they may be ‘out of sorts’ or ‘acting up’. I remember my mom saying to my brothers and I when we got like this…’ Go outside and blow the stink off ya.’
It wasn’t that we smelled, or at least I hope not. I believe she meant, blow this funk that you are in off you…and we would. We would play outside for hours, making up games, causing havoc to our neighbours prized bushes. Kids being kids.
I know even now when I feel like this I need to goof off, do something unplanned, non work related and something that will stimulate a different part of my brain.
Turns out, a little goofing off is good for us. The great people at Mc Cains have started something called The All Good Blog. And they share conversations, research and studies on how important play is for children and adults.
I especially loves this one called ‘The Benefits of Goofing Off…’
Looks like the odd goof off day here and there is not a waste of time after all.
**As the Fab Eric Alper stated in his post… By the way, McCain’s paid me for my thoughts. I would just put it all back in their cakes, anyway, so it was a fair trade. … I second this motion…**
